Dreamy Bubbles

Baby Massage Classes

What is Baby Massage?

This is when a parent lovingly strokes and holds their baby, giving rhythmic strokes and soothing holds to each area of the body whilst using a massage oil. Whilst massaging you follow a sequence that has been developed over many years. Baby massage is a wonderful experience of bonding, respect, love, and communication, both verbally and non-verbally. Baby massage uses both Indian and Swedish massage traditions as well as incorporating principles from yoga and reflexology.

History of Baby Massage

Historians have found evidence that baby massage dates back as far as 3000 years ago. The teaching of infant massage is part of the ayurvedic medicine system, and the word ‘massage’ comes from the Arabic language. Eastern medicine typically believe that massage prevents illnesses and Western medicine typically believe that massage treats the illness or injury. In India and Africa baby massage has been a longstanding parenting tradition, it gained popularity in the UK in the late 1990s.
